Capcom has formally apologized for the Street Fighter 5 beta.
On a post on the official blog, Combofiend shared this statement:
Capcom offers its sincerest apologies to everyone who participated in this first beta test. While the purpose of a beta is to work out these type of issues, it was very clear that the issues we faced were more severe than we were prepared for. After three days of testing, while we were making progress and collecting valuable data, we felt the majority of players were not having a good experience, and the best course of action would be to take the servers offline for extended maintenance.
To all of the players that participated and supported us through this initial phase, we cannot thank you enough. We understand how frustrating it is to be so close to playing the game you are excited for, and to not have it working. The whole team here is very disappointed that we were unable to deliver a proper beta experience this time. Thank you so much for your continued support, and we promise that we will have a better experience for you with the future betas.
Combofiend also explains the beta has been officially postponed, therefore the three promised beta periods are still on the way, and this one doesn’t count.
This was to allay the concerns of fans who tried to get into the beta this time and worried they missed out on an in-game incentive for doing so. Capcom is looking into what in-game incentive they should offer for players who did get to log in, knowing not everyone were able to do so, but for everyone else, they did not miss anything.
Capcom also apologized again to fans in Europe and Asia for making part of the initial beta North America only. They explained the pool had to be temporarily limited so that they could identify and fix issues. These gamers are also getting a special in-game incentive of their own.
What do you think Capcom should offer as in-game incentive to each of these players? Feel free to share your suggestions in the comments.
