Nvidia is Helping to Fix Batman: Arkham Knight on PC

July 27, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Nvidia is lending their hand in fixing Arkham Knight.

Batman: Arkham Knight's PC version was released in such a bad state that forced its publisher, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, to pull the game off store shelves both digitally and at retail outlets. They took the step of suspending the game from being sold on Steam just two days after it was released and have promised owners of the game and would-be buyers that they plan to release updates to polish up the game and make it worthwhile for PC gamers to pick up.

In addition to Rocksteady's on-going efforts to fix up the title, WBIE has enlisted a small team of developers from Nvidia to assist in optimizing the game's performance. Speaking to MMORPG.com, Nvidia's Tom Petersen said that Nvidia Gameworks and QA teams are working on fixing a lot of issues, even ones that aren't necessarily related to the hardware manufacturer or its graphics cards.

"They made a few mistakes in getting the game out, it wasn't fully performance-optimized for PC. So now we're deploying our QA resources and our engineers to make that game as good as it can possibly be," Petersen said. "And I gotta tell you, on the releases I've seen, it is a fantastic game. It plays great, it's a ton of fun, the effects are amazing, and I'm pretty sure when Warner Bros. makes it available on Steam again, that people are going to be delighted."

Petersen said that Nvidia would do the same for other PC games developed with their support.

"When a huge title like that comes out [and] it's got problems, we're going to dive on it. We're going to apply our resources. And it's the same guys, it's the GameWorks guys, it's the QA guys, that are getting in there and looking at the port and trying to figure out what's going on," said Petersen. "We're fixing a ton of things that are not necessarily related to us. Some may be related to our driver, maybe not, but at the end of the day, the game is the focus, and we're going to make it good."

The game will be seeing an interim patch sometime this August for existing owners of the game, but it'll be awhile yet before the game is fully patched for PC gamers and released back in stores.
