Still unsure if Splatoon is going eSports? Nintendo just revealed a new set of additions coming in an upcoming free update.
Matchmaking options are getting much sought after upgrades with Squad Battle and Private Battle. Squad battle lets you play Ranked Battle rule sets with your friends in your squad. You can create a squad and invite other friends other, to fight other squads who were built exactly the same way.
Private Battle is even better for friends, as two to eight friends will be able to play together in private matches. You can have any number of players in one team fight each other, so if you want to play one versus seven or two versus five, you can do that here.
The two weapons revealed in the last crazy trailer now have names. The Gatling paint gun has been dubbed the Splatling, and its power is wielded as a charge blasting weapon, so to get the most out of it, you’ll want to charge up. The bucket is called the Slosher, but it’s nothing to scoff at as it throws a heavy amount of ink out at an impressive range.
Finally, the level cap was just raised up to level 50, with new ranks S and S+ added in exceeding level A+. There are also 40 new items to be added in, including a leather jacket and a sushi chef outfit.
Nintendo promises even more updates for summer and fall, including Rainmaker Ranked Battle mode. Of course, the competitive community is clamoring for LAN support still, but what would you add to Splatoon? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
