Netflix Live-Action Resident Evil Series Gets A Release Date

March 17, 2022 by Dani Cook

Check out the new posters below.

Netflix has finally given the upcoming live-action Resident Evil series a release date, as well as shared some new promotional posters for the show. The simple posters inspired by the Capcom horror series feature a bright yellow background with contrasting blood splatters bubbling around two telling objects. One of the posters features a large red and yellow pill with the words “Joy” on it while the other shows a vial of blood with a label that marks it positive for the T-virus pathogen. Check out the exciting new posters below.

Netflix has said on the new Resident Evil horror series, “Year 2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.”

Several actors are already known to be signed onto the project. Lance Reddick (The Wire, Horizon Forbidden West) will take on the role of Jade’s father, Albert Wesker. Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez and Ahad Raza will also feature in the Resident Evil show. Netflix previously shared that the series will take place between two timelines, one where Jade and Billie are teens and one set in the future where the world has been ravaged by zombies.

Resident Evil is a major franchise spanning numerous games and films, it is not surprising that in the current age of video game adaptions, a company like Netlfix would look to it for content. In addition to Resident Evil, gamers can also look forward to further adaptions for game franchises such as Halo, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mass Effect, The Last of Us, and several more. It’s not a bad time to be a fan of video game movies/TV shows.
