The Cruel King and the Great Hero is a side-scroller adventure game that follows the story of a young girl who dreams of being a hero and the mighty beast who protects her.
Once upon a time, a fearsome dragon known as the Demon King ruled over the world. A hero defeated him, severing one of his horns. The dragon lost his power and eventually became friends with the hero.
But one day, this hero sustained a fatal wound. Before dying, he asked his dragon friend one last favor: to raise his infant daughter. The game follows the story of this child being raised by a dragon. The Demon King told the girl tales about the adventures of her father, so now she wants to become a hero herself.
The Cruel King and the Great Hero features a hand-drawn art style with pen and watercolor motifs. The overall atmosphere of the game serves its story. The girl, Yuu, embarks on her own journey, discovering dangers and making new friends on the way. The dragon will help Yuu on her adventures, until the day she may eventually have to defeat it.
The Cruel King and the Great Hero is already available on PlayStation 4.
