The tale of the Deadpool movies is honestly quite unique compared to just about every other comic book movie property out there. Deadpool technically made his live-action debut in the much-maligned X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. He was played by Ryan Reynolds and when he was actually allowed to be Wade Wilson, it was awesome. But then, they butchered who Deadpool was and fans…weren’t happy.
So, Ryan Reynolds petitioned Fox (who owned the X-Men rights at the time) to allow him to make a Deadpool movie. They were hesitant, so Ryan “leaked” some raw footage of what the movie could be like and fans rallied to get the movie made. Fox caved, the first movie came out, broke records for an R-Rated film, and so a sequel was born. And then, Disney bought Fox so now they have the Merc With The Mouth.
Luckily for us, Deadpool 3 is coming, we know that as a fact. But for Ryan Reynolds, it won’t be the same if it doesn’t have Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in it, so he wants the fans to help make that happen.
“That would be amazing,” said Reynolds. “I say write to Kevin Feige, care of Marvel Cinematic Universe at whatever Buena Vista Way. I don’t know where it is, but yeah, that would be nice. That would be a dream. That would be dream come true.”
Apparently, the original for Deadpool 3 (according to Reynolds at least) was a kind of “roadtrip movie) with Wade and Logan. How that would’ve worked is anyone’s guess. But we’re sure it would’ve been funny.
The catch here is that while fans and Ryan may want it, it’s not clear if Hugh wants it. yes, him and Reynolds are friends, but, he said he’s done playing Wolverine. Can the fans change his mind? We’ll find out…
