There are many characters who have yet to grace the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an official capacity yet. At times, it was mainly because of story and timing, other times it was because of behind-the-scenes politics and the “rule” of certain people. But then, for characters like the X-Men and Fantastic Four, as well as Spider-Man for a time, Marvel Studios didn’t own those rights. Thus, they had to make movies without them while Fox and Sony could make movies and such with them. But over time, deals were made and rights were brought back, and now it’s only a matter a time before some of these characters debut. Which brings us to… Deadpool.
Deadpool is by and large one of the most popular movies to NOT be from the MCU. It was made by Fox after Ryan Reynolds all but forced them to make it. It was a hit, and its sequel wasn’t bad either. What’s more, we know Deadpool 3 is coming and it’ll be in the MCU…somehow, we just don’t know how specifically.
However, we do know that he ALMOST made an appearance in Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings. How is that possible? Well, one of the official concept artists for the film, Andrew Kim, revealed on his website that one of the planned ideas for the Golden Dagger Club was to have Deadpool fighting Proxima Midnight.
That would’ve been a unique way of teasing Deadpool’s involvement in the MCU without making people wonder the why’s and the how’s just yet.
Obviously, we didn’t get that, but it’s a cool fact that they considered it.
Ryan Reynolds himself has teased that we MAY be getting news on Deadpool in the MCU “sooner rather than later”, but given all that’s happened recently in the MCU and the world, we might just have to be a “see when we believe it” kind of person for now.
