March 8, 2022 by Dani Cook

Check out a breakdown of the prices below.

Rockstar has officially announced the pricing for GTA 5 and GTA Online on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The games won’t be available as a free upgrade on next-gen consoles, but there will be a significant discount for players to take advantage of during the first three months of its release. GTA 5 and GTA Online are now live on both the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store for next-gen consoles and although there is no free upgrade for the game, PS5 owners will benefit from a 75% discount while Xbox Series X/S users will get a 50% discount on the upgraded title.

The official pricing is as follows:

  • GTA 5 Story Mode’s full price is £34.99 / $39.99 on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • PS5 owners with PS Plus can get both Story Mode and GTA Online for £8.75 / $9.99, or just GTA Online for free.
  • Xbox Series X/S owners can get Story Mode and GTA Online for £17.49 / $19.99 and GTA Online for £8.99 / $9.99

The next-gen versions are due to include a number of improvements and new features. Fans will be able to enjoy three different graphics modes, PC-quality graphics, a variety of new NPCs and vehicles, as well as additions to GTA Online. According to Rockstar, “These new versions also offer across-the-board improvements including faster loading times, increased population and traffic variety, increased vegetation density, improved lighting quality across shadows, water reflections, and other elements. Plus improved anti-aliasing, motion-blur, highly detailed new explosions, fire, and much more.”

In even more exciting news for GTA fans, Rockstar recently confirmed GTA 6 is currently under development. While there is no confirmed release date for the next installment of the series, the fact that it is officially on its way should please GTA fans.

The next-gen version of GTA 5 and GTA Online will officially launch on March 15 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
