Following yesterday’s statements from John Smedley, Lizard Squad has launched a fresh salvo of attacks on Daybreak’s games.
Smedley spoke out about convicted Lizard Squad member Julius Kivimaki, who, among other things, was part of the group that sent out a bomb threat that forced his American Airlines flight to go down from the air. Smedley opines the two year commuted sentence Kivimaki received was too light. Smedley then threatened to not just sue Kivimaki, but Kivimaki’s parents, in civil court. He also revealed details of Kivimaki’s ordeal, including already spending time in jail and the 15 other criminal cases waiting for him.
Clearly, Smedley’s comments struck a chord within Lizard Squad. At 2:13 Pacific Standard time, last July 8, the group went after H1Z1’s servers. In a matter of moments, several of Daybreak’s games, including the longstanding Planetside 2, went offline.
Smedley confirmed the attack and referred to it as a minor DDOS. Fans didn’t miss Smedley’s comments the day before, however, and are blaming those comments for them not being able to play their games now. However, given what Smedley personally went through, they may be hasty in suggesting that he should not have spoken out.
