John Smedley, CEO of Daybreak Game Company (formerly Sony Online Entertainment), posted a series of tweets today in response to the news of Julius “zeekill” Kivimaki, 17, being convicted on 50,700 charges related to cybercrime, saying Kivimaki is a “sociopath and will get what’s coming to him.”
Kivimaki, who has been identified as a member of the hacking group “Lizard Squad” and perpetrator of the bomb threat that grounded Smedley’s plane from Dallas to San Diego last August, was sentenced to a two-year suspended sentence (re: probation) and must have his online activities monitored during this time, according to Finnish media outlet Kaleva. He will not serve jail time.
Charges against Kivimaki include data breaches, felony payment fraud, telecommunication harassment, and other counts related to fraud and violation of company secrets.
Lizard Squad is also responsible for the distributed denial of service attacks on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network during the holiday season last year, for which Smedley says Kivimaki is also responsible.
“It's important to note – [Kivimaki] was convicted of crimes that had nothing to do YET with the PSN DDOS over Christmas (yes he was part of that),” Smedley wrote on Twitter.
“That was the piece of garbage that brought my plane down, leaked my information and did all kinds of other crap to me,” said Smedley of Kivimaki, after linking to an article about Kivimaki's conviction and sentencing. Smedley also said that Kivimaki has “15 other criminal cases awaiting prosecution in Finland” before threatening to “go after his parents in Civil court too.”
Smedley said he talked to him on the phone when Kivimaki called and pretended to be someone else. He also noted that he has heard the entire phone conversation that Kivimaki had with American Airlines “the day he called in the bomb threat.”
Smedley wants Kivimaki’s parents to also be held accountable for their son’s actions.
“His parents need to be held accountable for his actions in addition to his going to jail,” Smedley wrote. “So I'm coming for you Julius.”

The FBI nailed this guy literally immediately. It took the Finnish government a long time to catch up.
