The Uncharted movie's seemingly endless production limbo has just become even longer with news that Seth Gordon has exited the project.
Gordon was attached to Sony Pictures' Uncharted movie as director. The Wrap reports that Tom Rothman, who assumed chairman duties from Amy Pascal following last year's extensive hack of Sony Pictures, brought in a new creative director for the project.
Heroic Hollywood however states that Rothman decided to reduce the movie's budget. "Sony was hoping this was their Indiana Jones and Rothman is looking at it like Resident Evil," the site says.
During the Sony Pictures hack, it emerged that Sony wanted the script to offer a "more intense" version of National Treasure.
The Uncharted movie was due to open on June 10th, 2016 which seems highly unlikey at this point. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection launches on October 7th, while Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will be released in Spring 2016.
