Banjo-Kazooie was announced for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack back in December. Now, the game has received a release date for when it will be added to the service. January 20. That’s right, Banjo lovers will be able to play the epic platformer from tomorrow. Check out Nintendo’s announcement and trailer below.
Banjo-Kazooie is the latest game to be added to Nintendo’s beleaguered Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service. Last month saw the release of Paper Mario on the subscription service. Unfortunately, like many of the games released so far, gamers complained of issues with the Switch port of the game. Problems with the game included “input lag, sound and music issues, frame rate drops, and issues with button mapping.”
Unfortunately, Paper Mario hasn’t been the only game with these types of issues. When the service was first launched a lot of the games suffered from a whole host of issues. We reported on the issues in October: “Some of the problems range from input lag, making games like Mario 64 and Mario Kart unplayable in some cases, an unfortunate button layout that seems to reverse A and B, framerate issues, sound delays, texture issues, a Controller Pack error, and problems where the music tracks are incorrectly sped up or sound garbled.”
The technical issues came on top of gamers already being angry at the lack of content and high price tag of the service. Hopefully, by now Nintendo has been able to iron out all of the issues for the new games it is adding. Although the number of games on the service is making it more enticing, it won’t stay that way if the games don’t run better than some of the less scrupulous options available to people out there.
Fingers crossed that all goes well when Banjo-Kazooie releases on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tomorrow.
