Activision has announced that their upcoming first-person shooter and latest title in the long-running Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops 3, is coming out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in addition to the PC, Xbox One and PS4.
The publisher says that despite being designed to harness the full potential of new-gen platforms, the game will be ported by Beenox, which previously produced the Spider-Man titles, for last-gen platforms.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has been designed to harness the full potential of the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC," wrote Activision in a blog post. "However, we know that there are still some fans that haven’t made the transition to the new console hardware, which is why we’re happy to share that we're working with developers Beenox and Mercenary Technology on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3."
The publisher noted that the game's multiplayer beta will only be available on the PS4, Xbox One and PC, and that the game will never, ever come out for the Wii U. I guess there's always Splatoon for Wii U owners to feed their shooter itch.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is slated for release on November 6, 2015.
