Destiny is getting a third expansion pack titled The Taken King, which continues where the previous expansion, House of Wolves, has left off. Priced at $40, the expansion pack will include a new subclass for each of the game's three current classes, as well as a new raid. House of Wolves did not have a new raid, offering instead something called the Prison of Elders, which resembles horde mode.
Based on promotional materials for The Taken King, we know that players will do battle against Oryx, the father of Crota, who players battled in The Dark Below's raid, Crota's End. The Sword of Crota was their first encounter with aspects of the mythical Hive warrior.
Of the three classes, there iwll be Void for Hunter, Solar for Titan, and Arc for Warlock. The Hunter gets a bow, the Titan gets a hammer, and the Warlock gets powers akin to Force Lightning.
The game's publisher Activision hinted in February that Destiny would get a third expansion pack in the form of a "major content release", and developer Bungie applied for a trademark for The Taken King in May. Expect more details to surface during E3 next week.
According to leaks, the expansion will be released on September 15th.
