Konami has revealed a new installment in the Yu-Gi-Oh! game series, Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The collectible card combat sim game is coming early summer this year, and is a modest release, at $ 19.99, with the promise of future DLC to add decks, avatars, characters, and duels at $ 4.99 each.
The story campaign will let you play all the main events in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TV series, from the original show all the way until Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal, and also some battles from the latest series, Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V. Some of the later fights from Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-Vwill be DLC.
You will also be able to play with the latest real life decks, recreated digitally, including Pendulum Summon Monsters. There is also compatibility with different Battle Pack, Sealed, and Draft formats for competitive play. All in all, 6,600 cards will be available to play with.
As a game franchise, Yu-Gi-Oh! hasn’t stuck to one platform, but frequently switches around, ostensibly to keep fans happy regardless of platform of choice. The last few games were released in PSN (PSP and PS3), PC, XBLA, and 3DS, respectively.
So, it’s not likely that this game will get a sequel, but if you were a hardcore Yu-Gi-Oh! fan, you should be happy to learn that the IP has jumped to eight gen consoles for you. Hopefully, the game will make use of the PS4’s and Xbox One’s power, at least to raise the quality of graphics.
