Star Wars Battlefront’s New Heroes and Villains, And Maybe An Open World From Visceral Games?

May 27, 2015 by Vanessa Lopa

We can look forward to messing around with the Millenium Falcon come November, and we could also be getting an open world Star Wars game.

The release of Star Wars Battlefront draws closer, and we’re getting more great stuff! StarWarsHQ shares new details with us on what we can probably expect. You can subscribe to their channel here.

You can play as heroes or villains, and it’s likely that you can also use their vehicular counterparts. So far, we’re getting Boba Fett and Darth Vader, who we saw in the trailers. There’s also a chance that Admiral Akbar will be present. Han Solo might also be in the game, hinted at by the presence of the DL-44 blaster. Chewbacca is probably still up in the air, but it would be pretty cool to have him in the game.

As for vehicles, the Millennium Falcon is confirmed. Fighter Squadron Mode has also been confirmed. You can (should) probably work on your piloting skills here. Boba Fett’s Slave I is also another possibility, given his presence in the game. This is still unconfirmed, though.

DICE was given access to the Lucasfilm archives, they traveled to the original filming locations, and they’ve even got the original sound bites. They’re bringing us what could possibly be the most authentic Star Wars game to date, and we couldn’t be more excited if we tried.

Meanwhile, Visceral Games Director Scott Warner has tweeted a photo of Han Solo standing in the world of Mercenaries 2, hinting at a Star Wars open world game. He’s got an impressive track record which includes Battlefield Hardline and Halo 4, which have awesome open worlds so if they pull this off, it’s probably going to be ridiculously good. Packing it with action and maybe some side missions will sweeten the deal for fans. We’re definitely watching out for this not-so-secret project of theirs.

Star Wars Battlefront will be releasing on November 17, 2015, in North America and November 20, 2015, in the UK for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
