There’s an all new Need for Speed and it’s… a reboot? Yep. Don’t expect any sub-headers to the name this time around as EA Games has announced that the Ghost Games-developed title is set to be a triumphant return to form for the series, that reached its peak during Need for Speed: Underground.
The footage, all of which appears to have been captured in-game with a voiceover track laid above it, showcases some underground racers being pursued by cops during an illegal street race.
Much like Underground, the game is said to feature a lot of customization options, authentic urban car culture, a nighttime setting for its open world environment, and a narrative that may be either cheesy or cool, or both. If it’s anything like Fast and Furious, I’m all game.
EA isn’t calling it Underground, branding it instead as Need for Speed, but that’s okay.
The full gameplay trailer is set to debut at E3 on June 15. The game has been confirmed for release on the PC, Xbox One and PS4.
