Former Mass Effect boss Casey Hudson has joined Microsoft Studios as creative director of HoloLens Experiences.
Casey Hudson served as executive producer of the Mass Effect franchise at BioWare, where he worked for 16 years before leaving last August.
At the time, he commented on the BioWare Blog, "I’ll take a much needed break, get perspective on what I really want to do with the next phase of my life, and eventually, take on a new set of challenges."
Speaking to the Xbox Wire to mark the announcement, Hudson said HoloLens will be his primary focus, adding, "I am extremely passionate about the potential of this kind of technology, as anyone who’s talked with me over the last couple of years can attest. I feel that the work being done at Microsoft on mixed reality and holographic computing will have a tremendous impact on how all of us interact with technology in the coming years. It’s an honor to be able to join such an incredibly talented team, and to work on something that will fundamentally advance the role computers play in our daily lives."
In addition, he says he'll be "working with innovative new Xbox titles, helping them to find success through clear direction and creative vision."
Hudson's tenure at BioWare was marked by some controversy given the poor response from many to the ending of Mass Effect 3.
He joins Kinect's Kudo Tsunoda and former Lionhead boss John Needham on HoloLens.
