Are you a fan of Pro Evolution Soccer? You may not be able to purchase your favorite game next year, if this news is any indication.
Konami has announced only one global release for consoles for the upcoming financial year. Of course, this is the famous, if beleaguered, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
There is a Pro Evolution Soccer game planned for 2015, but only for Japan. Under its original name, Winning Eleven 2015 myClub released digital only for PlayStation 4 last March. At the time, PES fan sites reported that they believed the game would eventually make it outside Japan, and to other platforms, presumably Xbox One, and maybe Steam.
This was before the recent blowup and speculation regarding Konami and Hideo Kojima. Now, in their latest financial report, Konami revealed that practically all their video games for the year released last March, with only The Phantom Pain and Matsuri de Fever!! yet to release.
On the side, Winning Eleven 2015 myClub is a free to play game, based on the myClub mode on their previous Pro Evolution Soccer/ Winning Eleven titles. It also has an offline training mode, but fans reported then that they expected to get future modes from a retail release.
For now, Konami is still updating Pro Evolution Soccer 2015, which was not released this year but on November 11, 2014. This last release was also noteworthy for finally getting to use the FOX Engine, to great effect. It may be possible that this is the last Western football game fans can expect from Konami.
