Update
We finally have the PC system requirements for Call of Duty: Vanguard which you can view right here. However, it’s worth updating this post with the now official storage requirements. There’s actually two sets of storage requirements for this game. If you’re only after the multiplayer and zombies game mode then the game will require players to have 36GB of storage available to install at launch. Meanwhile, those of you who want to enjoy the campaign will need to ensure there is 61GB of storage available at launch.
Original Story…
Call of Duty is a massively beloved video game franchise, and each year we receive a new installment. This year, we know that Call of Duty: Vanguard is coming from development studio Sledgehammer Games. While this game will take us back to the gritty World War Two setting, it would come at a hefty cost to our storage systems. Video games can take quite a bit of storage, and for those working on limited space, that means having to offload some video games from their systems.
Fortunately, this next installment might not take such a big hit for the latest-generation video game consoles and PC platforms. New technologies have allowed the studio to optimize the game further, resulting in a drastic drop in storage size. Announced through the official Call of Duty Twitter account, it was unveiled that Call of Duty: Vanguard will see a notable drop due to new on-demand texture streaming tech. This ultimately means that Call of Duty: Vanguard will drop anywhere from 30% to over 50% in storage size.
The tweet didn’t indicate the final storage size requirements. However, that’s a massive drop in storage size. Hopefully, technologies such as the kind Call of Duty: Vanguard continues to pop up. This would allow more video games to be installed on our hard drives rather than managing which storage drive will hold certain video games. Then, of course, there is also the new push into cloud gaming, eliminating the need for significant storage drives.
As mentioned, Call of Duty: Vanguard is coming into the marketplace this year from Sledgehammer Games. Players will be able to pick up a copy of this game on November 5, 2021. When the game does release, you will be able to pick up the game for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms
