Destiny's September expansion will likely be called The Taken King, following the discovery of a recently made trandemark by developer Bungie.
NeoGAF's Kifimbo spotted the trademark application, which was filed late last month. A leaked internal schedule suggests the game is due for a major expansion this September to mark the game's first anniversary.
The Taken King may refer to Oryx, whose son Crota was the main nemesis in The Dark Below. The schedule indicates this update will have significantly more content than The Dark Below or House of Wolves expansions.
Players believe The Taken King, former known by its working title Comet, will essentially be Destiny 1.5 and the schedule suggests it will be available in a boxed version, possibly in a Game of the Year-style package containing all content in Destiny released so far.
Bungie's contract with Activision revealed the series will alternate between yearly expansions and new games over the next decade and The Taken King seems to fit in with that plan.
Destiny's House of Wolves expansion will be released on May 19th.
