The modders behind CitizenMP have been working on the switch from GTA 4 to GTA 5 quite rapidly. Their GTA 5 project, FiveM, has seen its experimental builds go live today.
FiveM isn’t quite ready for what fans want it to do, but it will be ready in a matter of weeks. FiveM will give modders dedicated servers to play online, completely independent of Rockstar’s own online servers.
Via these servers, they will be able to play with any mods they want. This includes FOV, new cars, glitches, and more. Of course, in keeping with hacker culture, these servers will be completely free and decentralized.
If you only have partial knowhow of how this works, you could have assembled builds by pulling files around from the Citizen.RE site before. What the devs did was put the binaries together for simple assembly, as requested by other fans.
As some fans point out in the reddit, the modders and fans are justifying setting this up with Rockstar’s recent actions. Many feel the bans on mod players going online go too far, with too many players banned just for the FOV mod.
Will you play on FiveM’s servers if they manage to pull it off? Share your sentiments with us in the comments.
