Fans speculate that Aksys Games have been dropping hints that they will be making a Zero Escape 3.
Series creator Kotaro Uchikoshi revealed in 2012 that Zero Escape 3 would be capping off the series, making it a trilogy. However, in February last year, he revealed in a separate interview that low interest in Japan, as well as budget constraints, forced Uchikoshi and Spike Chunsoft to put the project on hiatus.
In the same interview, he explained that the situation could change either if Uchikoshi could make a profit off his next game, or if one of the studios executives agrees to greenlight it. Most recently, Uchikoshi made references to the situation having changed, but did not outright confirm the game properly.
Could that something that have changed come in the form of Spike Chunsoft’s other games registering a profit? Since that pessimistic interview, the company released J-Stars Victory VS for PS3 and Vita, Fossil Fighters Frontier on 3DS, two Danganronpa games, and Japanese localizations of Castlestorm and Hotline Miami 2.
Moving on, much of the speculation revolves around this site, which Aksys shared one March 18. The site has been sharing random sets of numbers, and recently, words alongside it. These words seem connected to whenever the Aksys Twitter account uses the hashtag #4infinity. When asked to confirm Zero Escape 3, Uchikoshi is now coy, giving obtuse answers, but no flat out denials.
You can learn more in the Neogaf thread here, and it is genuinely intriguing to see Aksys’ dedication. Fans crawling through the company’s site code have also only found obtuse clues as well. Fans estimate the teases will end by July 3, a few weeks before E3.
