German retailer Saturn appears to have confirmed Disney Infinity 3.0 and the addition of Star Wars characters to the toys-to-life cast.
3.0's starter set includes Anakin Skywalker and Clone Wars' character Ahsoka and is listed for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Saturn dates the game for August, and prices for the starter set range from €59.99 to €69.99.
The box art of the starter set also features Princess Leia, Darth Vadar, Darth Maul, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, R2-D2, and C-3PO. A Naboo star fighter and Anakin's pod racer are also displayed.
Disney Infinity was originally released as a rival to Activision's Skylanders in 2013 and included characters from Disney and Pixar's range of animated and live-action movies including Toy Story and Pirates of the Caribbean. Last year, Disney Infinity 2.0 introduced a range of Marvel superheroes and villains and with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed out this December this is the perfect opportunity to bring the Force to the game.
Disney Interactive has said that they planned to introduce Marvel and Star Wars characters from the very beginning.
3.0 will be up against Nintendo's amiibo and Warner Bros.' LEGO Dimensions as well as the next Skylanders this year. Of course, it's not the only Star Wars themed game this year, with EA's Star Wars Battlefront out this November.
