Call of Duty Black Ops 3’s Grand Experiment: Integrated Game Modes Let You Switch Modes On The Fly

April 29, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

When you switch game modes, you can bring your multiplayer squadron with you.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 is a grand experiment in how the franchise handles game modes. To be specific, all the barriers between the modes have been broken down.

Some parts of the multiplayer mode are integrated with Zombies and the story campaign. Subsequently, there are also parts of the story campaign that are integrated with multiplayer and Zombies. As Treyarch puts it, it plays like three games in one.

Because of the way the modes are structured, you can switch between them on the fly. So, if you are in the middle of online multiplayer and you want to play co-op, you can bring your whole multiplayer party into the campaign. You can bring the same party into Zombies.

There is one element which would be useful in this integration, but we don’t quite know if it will be: The Safehouse. This is the place where you do character customization, upgrade and personalize weapons, and check on your gun rank, medals, and more. Your team returns to this place every time before starting the next mission.

It does sound like the Safehouse is a safe bet to be part of the integration, but we’re falling short of confirming it until it is.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 is releasing on November 6 on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
