Quantum Break developer Remedy has revealed that should a sequel to 2010 survival horror game Alan Wake ever be released, it may come to PlayStation platforms.
The game launched on Xbox 360 and PC but Remedy owns the rights to the IP and should Microsoft decide against greenlighting the sequel the Finish developer says it's not ruling out any platforms.
"We are definitely not ruling anything out and looking at different opportunities," Remedy's chief creative officer Sam Lake told Polygon, "but nothing is set in stone at the moment."
Lake continued, "But obviously it depends on many different things. I think that regardless of the platform, a good sequel — while it continues the story of the original one — it's still something that someone who hasn't played the original one can enjoy and jump on board and dive into the setting and the world and enjoy themselves.
"It's not like a potential sequel of Alan Wake would be only something that someone who has already played everything in the Alan Wake franchise can enjoy."
Remedy also confirmed that there are on-going discussions with Microsoft to bring the original Alan Wake to Xbox One. While Lake was optimistic about the prospects he cautioned that "nothing has happened yet" and added it would be "highly unlikely" for the game to appear on PlayStation 4 or Wii U.
Should Alan Wake be released on Xbox One, it will likely include all of the game's DLC.
In September 2014 Lake remarked that a sequel may happen "when the time is right." It was recently confirmed that Alan Wake and spin-off Alan Wake American Nightmare have sold 4.5 million copies to date.
