Walmart has opened up preorders for some very select amiibo; Splatoon’s Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy and Pac-Man from Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U.
As you know, the amiibo are not just collectible on their own merits, but also because they unlock content in key Nintendo games.
For Splatoon, each amiibo opens up 20 new challenges. When you beat enough of these challenges, you unlock a special challenge to earn unique gear, perhaps including the school uniform Nintendo recently previewed, as well as the bling bling gun.
As for Pac-Man, his primary use is to show up as an FP fighter for Super Smash Bros on either Wii U or 3DS. Pac-Man also unlocks a costume in Mario Kart 8, special decals for aircraft on Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy +, and special bonuses for Hyrule Warriors, Mario Party 10, and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
On the side, the Splatoon amiibo also unlock bonuses for Hyrule Warriors, Mario Party 10, and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
