Capcom has revealed spinoff titleMonster Hunter Stories, to be released in Japan in 2016 for 3DS.
The title has been in the works for five years now, and promises a different way to play in the Monster Hunter world, more different from the original Monster Hunter series than the other upcoming spinoff, Monster Hunter 4G.
It’s a full on RPG with a different aesthetic, and seemingly a completely different narrative. While the modified design of the Felyne may have grabbed your attention, the true highlight of the trailer is the point when the erstwhile protagonist mounts the young Rathalos.
The official Capcom Monster Hunter Twitter account also shared a little teaser about the game, describing it as a deep story that unfolds in a vast world.

Lastly, Capcom shared this poster art that hints at the scale of the game and its world.
Now, a fan sharply noticed a similar aesthetic between Monster Hunter Stories and some Mega Man Legends 3 concept art. It may not really amount to anything, but if you’re curious enough, you can take a look at it here.
Personally, Monster Hunter Stories gives me a How To Train Your Dragon vibe, but the implication of raising a monster also brings up the possibility that the game could have Pokemon-like elements.
