Bandai Namco Europe has shared a new trailer showing off the backdrop and gameplay of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
One noteworthy element in the trailer’s introduction is the mention of racism as a major story element. Racism, primarily against the elves, were a plot point of the first few Witcher games, but this may be the first time it’s brought up for the 3rd game. As was the case when discussing the game’s sexual content, the racism is mentioned as something that helps make the game a more realistic fantasy story.
Also highlighted in the trailer is your ability to determine Geralt’s personality in some way. When challenged at a bar filled with hostile patrons, you can choose to have Geralt challenge everyone to a fight. Or, you can buy everyone in the room a round of drinks.
The many things you can do in the game are of interest as well. You will be able to race horses, get drunk, look for romance (casually and in earnest), play cards, brawl, go treasure hunting, or even join ancient rituals.
Finally, we are treated to a small game spoiler that may change the way you see Geralt’s quest. You seek out Ciri, the child of prophecy, who is also known as a living weapon. As some say out loud, the moment you catch up to Ciri, whom you helped sire as a child, she will die.
What do you think this could mean? Will your quest lead you to kill Ciri? Would you be willing to do so, or would you do everything in your power to avoid it? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
