A sequel to 2014's Need for Speed movie has been given the go-ahead, The Wrap reports.
The film is based on EA's celebrated racing franchise and is said to be in co-production at studios in China and the U.S. That's because most of the film is understood to be set in China, and will feature sizable local talent. Production is due to start later this year.
It's currently unclear whether Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame will return to reprise his role and a director has to be confirmed. Details about the project are expected over the coming weeks.
Given the record breaking success of Fast & Furious 7, it isn't too surprising that movie studios are backing rivals to the long running franchise.
A new Need for Speed game is also likely this year.
