There's a brand new podcast on game development called the Digital-Tutors PixelHub Podcast that invites game developers on to discuss various–and very interesting–aspects of the video games we know, love, and play.
In the second episode of the podcast, they invited on Microsoft technical evangelist Amanda Lange to talk about the types of characters people enjoy playing when given a choice. Are they typically "good" or "bad"? What kinds of characters do YOU like to play?
Amanda gave a well-researched answer to the question when she released data on the morality in games and player choices at a GDC lecture entitled: "Beyond Binary Choices: how players Engage with Morality." The podcast explores her discoveries and the implications they may have for game developers.
The question is an interesting one for anyone studying game theory and for the practical side of game design.
