Wondering why the Steam version of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round is missing a lot of key features? There is actually a really good reason for it.
As you may have heard, the Steam version only features visual effects equivalent to the PlayStation 3 version of the game, with only shadow effects having parity with its PlayStation 4 counterpart. The Danger Zone and Crimson stages also did not make the cut.
Worst of all are the games many glaring omissions:
· Online multiplayer
· Steam Achievements
· Steam Cloud
· Keyboard control configuration option
· Soft Engine
There are only two things the game has going for it, and that would be 4K support and antialiasing.
So what’s the big reason? As this Steam user points out, it is based on the arcade version of the game. In fact, in spite of the missing features from the console versions, Team Ninja considers it the best version of the game.
It’s strange that Tecmo Koei had not gone out and said this outright, but if it’s true, it would explain a lot about the port. If you are looking for an arcade accurate experience, you would be best served with as little changes applied to the build as possible.
Unfortunately, we no longer live in an era where arcade accuracy is the most important thing in a fighting game, so Team Ninja and Tecmo Koei are likely best served adding all these features in later. They do promise to add in online at some point, but are offering the game for discount now.
