The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Borderlands: the Handsome Collection will require players to download a massive update upon installing the game on day one.
The Xbox One version of the game requires that players download 16 gigabytes of updates — 3GB for Borderlands 2 and 13GB for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. The PlayStation 4 version weighs slightly less at 8.31GB. It's possible to play the games before installing the patches but the game's developer Gearbox suggests that players download the patch before starting their playthrough for the proper experience.
The patches add a host of bug fixes that didn't make it into the game before it went gold, and also include the Claptastic Voyage DLC and the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2.
“For The Handsome Collection, a large day-one update will be available giving access to Claptastic Voyage and Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2. This update will also address various bugs,” says Gearbox. “Although the update is large (as it’s adding an entire and brand new add-on campaign), we strongly recommend that all players download it before playing The Handsome Collection.”
The updates are automatically included in downloads for the digital download version, but anyone who purchases the physical edition of the games will have to download the patches.
