Monolith Soft has updated the Xenoblade Chronicles X website with many details, including new screenshots, concept art, and a look at positioning and Overclock Gear mechanics.
The concept art below shows off images of a pair that grabbed fans’ attention, a human girl paired with a giant beast. Many fans were quick to draw parallels to compare them to The Last Guardian, but it should be interesting to see how they get to be used in gameplay. Would you give up two teammate slots to keep this pair together?
Much like in the original Xenoblade Chronicles, positioning is an important factor in Xenoblade Chronicles X. At the base level, some Arts are more effective when you are positioned against enemies better. You can combine arts to create combos, in such a way that you can pull off combos without even thinking about it. You can also target blind spots, and in a page lifted from Monster Hunter, you can cut off a body part by targeting it.
When using Overclock Gear, you can chain Arts over and over, without reloading, for massive damage. A damage counter appears on the screen to show how much damage you make. This number grows exponentially as you deal more and more damage.
Overclock Gear enables another amazing ability; Triple Recast. You can charge an Art three times over for an incredible amount of damage. However, it gets better; you can use Triple Recast with all your teammates.

Finally, you can see some more concept art for the game below.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is scheduled for release this year exclusively on the Wii U.
