Battlefield Hardline DRM Tracks Hardware Changes

March 25, 2015 by Stephen Daly

You would need to buy the game three times to perform a graphics review with 20 cards.

Battlefield Hardline's DRM features track hardware changes and lock players out if they exceed a certain unspecified limit, Guru 3D reports.

The site was conducting a graphics performance review and was locked out after going through eight graphics cards, with EA issuing the warning message you can see above.

EA now appears to be tracking not only the number of PCs used to play the game, but also hardware changes. Whenever you insert a new CPU or graphics card, the hardware ID hash changes and if you do this too much your activation will be deemed invalid.

In order to conduct a graphics performance review with 20 cards, you would need to buy the game three times as a result of this DRM policy.
