The gamer VPN service WTFast, which promises to make online games run faster appears to be bribing anyone who installs the software with a premium membership–a "free month of WTFast premium time"–in exchange for writing a positive review on the Steam store page.
The following e-mail was sent to users (credit: screencap by Steam user MDuh), many of whom have posted negative reviews as a result of the company's actions. At one point in the e-mail, the company's CEO Rob Bartlett even suggests that the top 10 most impressive reviews will receive 3-month premiums memberships.
The e-mail blames negative reviews left on the Steam store page as "blatant lies and pure trolling."
The actions of the company may be in violation of Steam's online conduct policy, which reads as follows:
Use Steam in connection with surveys, contests, pyramid schemes, chain letters, junk email, spamming or any duplicative or unsolicited messages (commercial or otherwise).
I have since reached out to the company for a statement.
