Playstation fans won't have the luxury of starting their Spring Break off by spending all day on the service's online component. Sony announced earlier this morning that the service would be undergoing a maintenance period that will likely be longer than average. Playstation Network will be down for approximately two hours, though this could certainly change. For reference, the maintenance period runs from 9:00 am to 11:30 am on the US PDT and 12:00 to 14:30 pm EDT.
So, PSN won't be down for the entirety of today. Furthermore, if your account is signed in before the maintenance period begins, then you should still be able to access some of the more cursory elements of PSN.
The update reads:
"Users who do not have their details cached, will not be able to sign-in to their account or begin an online gaming session."
"There may be some additional downtime after the maintenance period for testing purposes."
