Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege’s closed alpha 0.1.0 impressions have leaked, with Ubisoft inadvertently confirming the leak by copyright blocking it on YouTube. Thankfully, you can watch a backup video uploaded to Blip above.
Alpha testers have shared a huge batch of information, but we’ll focus on the pertinent gameplay details here.
As we already knew, other players can be seen several rooms away as light outlines, to help facilitate team gameplay. The game has some strange bullet time-like elements that slow down the game for a cinematic feel, but one that isn’t created by cutscenes or QTEs. When you get hit, the screen temporarily zooms into a blur, as if the camera lens goes out of focus. You will be able to see some white lines that indicate the direction an enemy hits you if you’re observant enough. Finally there are death replays, an instant seven second replay which can show your death from either your or your opponent’s perspective. There are also replays for end of round.
The alpha plays out on a carrier plane, with several distinctly divided zones, and specific locations for cams that record your death instant replays. By nature, it’s a narrow map, but a large one. Obviously, this means other maps are similarly detailed, and offer strategic options for entry, egress, ingress, defense, and destruction.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege will be released on 2015 on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. You can get even more details on the game’s alpha here and here, and watch the video above.
