Tamriel Unlimited 20% Off Deal as ESO Goes Buy-to-Play

March 19, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

The Elder Scrolls MMO relaunched for this week with zero subscription fee

Yesterday marks The Elder Scrolls Online reboot launch – the "Tamriel Unlimited Edition" went live and all existing accounts will get upgraded to this 2.0 version for free. If you're a newcomer and interested in the subscription free version of the Elder Scroll MMO, for a limited time you can get 20% off Tamirel Unlimited, cutting $12 off the price of the Standard Edition. The same coupon can also be used on the Imperial Edition, dropping that price a whopping $16 bucks.

  • Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited Imperial Edition — $64 at GMG (MSRP $79.99)
  • Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited — $48 at GMG (MSRP $59.99)
  • At checkout use promo code: JBTBG5-7GVTE8-W2YXRV

GMG's coupon code discount is a limited time event, ending on Friday, March 20th at 8am Pacific. The coupon is not exclusive to ESO Tamriel Unlimited and can be used for most games sold on their site, excluding some recent releases like Battlefield Hardline.

Tamriel Unlimited Edition and Crown Store Details

As mentioned above, you're getting the TESO game without a monthly subscription. That said, Zenimax is not entirely done with monthly subscription fees and microtransactions. You'll be able to purchase "Crown Packs" to help boost your character, or go ahead and buy an "ESO Plus" membership. ESO Plus gets you 1,500 a month and all the paid for DLC upgrades ESO will be getting later on as the game progresses, along with a few other bonuses you can view here.

Other than the subscription fee, there are two other updates in the 2.0 "Tamriel Unlimited" Edition. First off, there's a new Crown Store, where you can upgrade equipment and get different skins for a price. There is no way to obtain crowns in-game, so you'll have to purchase them from Zenimax or get them from an ESO Plus membership. Another addition is the Criminal Justice system, where you'll finally be able to steal from and kill NPCs … and suffer the consequences if you get caught.

Starting June 9th, the PS4 and Xbox One versions will launch. They'll release as the most recent "Tamriel Unlimited" Edition, so just like PC, there will be no monthly fee.
