Hackers launched a DDoS attack on the Xbox Live server infrastructure today, shutting down the service amidst the launch of EA and Visceral Games' newest game, Battlefield Hardline. The attack effectively disrupted the game's release, at least on the Xbox One. The game is otherwise playable on other platforms, including the PC and PlayStation 4.
The game's publisher says that the issue is limited to the Xbox One edition of the game and noted on Twitter that it was "aware of Battlefield Hardline connectivity issues." The company later noted that the connectivity issues with the game were tied directly to a targeted online attack.
We’ve identified the connectivity issues on Xbox One are due to DDoS attack and working to resolve. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Battlefield Hardline shipped this past Tuesday to mixed reviews for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
