In case you haven't heard, Reign of Kings is the latest open-world sandbox title that's been getting massive attention from Twitch streamers—for good reason: it's a good game.
Developed by the makers of StarForge, Reign of Kings can be described as Rust in a medieval setting. It's a voxel-based game that allows you to construct buildings free from any axis restrictions. The environments, including the stuff you build, are fully destructible via the use of siege engines. Walls crumble and the ground tears apart to kinetic attacks.
Unlike Rust and its generic naked men, player characters in Reign of Kings can be fully customized with the character creator.
There's a wide variety of items and crafting, but no recipes are required to craft said items—it's a bit more like Minecraft in that sense. Here's a list of all the things you can craft (click for a larger image):
There's only one map right now, but that's okay: you can build whatever you want—fortresses, keeps, villages—within the setting provided that you have enough materials for it. The materials you collect and use to construct buildings, such as stone and flax, can be traded between players and encourage battles over resources. Players can conquer tracts of land, build castles, and fortify resources and structures with the building system.
Beyond all of this, there's the melee combat, which is central to gameplay. It plays a lot like Chivalry: Medieval Warfare and War of the Vikings.

The game is currently available on Steam for $19.99 for a single copy or $59.99 for a 4-pack.
