Publisher Take-Two is “very pleased” with Evolve's "incredibly successful" launch and sales performance to date, according to company president Karl Slatoff.
Speaking to the Piper Jaffray Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Conference this week, Games Industry reports that Slatoff was full of praise for Turtle Rock's shooter – though he declined to reveal actual numbers.
"When we first picked up Evolve... our instincts told us we had something really special," Slatoff commented. "And as the game evolved–I guess the pun is sort of intended–but I think our instincts have proven out right. We're very pleased. We've had an incredibly successful commercial launch with Evolve.”
Slatoff went on to explain that digital sales and the game's Season Pass attach rate were particularly strong.
“We're very happy where things are going, particularly on the digital side,” he continued. “Digital has been very strong for us, not only with full game downloads but also the attach rate for our season pass has been very strong. I'm not going to give you specific numbers but we're very pleased with those. So I would say in general, Evolve has been a fantastic experience for us and we're very pleased with it."
It's possible the game is performing well on PS4 and Xbox One but we've found that the concurrent player base on Steam has dropped sharply to around 5,000 since launch. Many players may have bought the game and quickly grew to be bored of it or the console sales are indeed strong but without hard numbers there's really no way to know.
