The final details of Bloodborne’s online have been revealed this close to release.
The Chalice Dungeons are an area below Yharnam which allows players to play with each other. While you can access the area offline and play solo, you can generate new dungeons within by going online and connecting with other players.
These dungeons are filled with multiple threats, including the Protectors, their superiors, the Ritual Masters, ancient guard dogs, and elaborate traps.
Using the Beckoning Bell or Sinister Resonant Bell, you can initiate locally hosted matches for either coop or competitive play. In turn, other players can connect with you using either the Small Resonant Bell or their own Sinister Resonant Bells.
Coop is about completing an area with other players. You can face multiple enemies, leading to a boss fight. On the other hand, competitive play is straightforward about fighting other players. Any time during the fight, guests can be removed from the game if they lose, the guest uses the Silencing Blank, or the host happens to enter the boss fight area.
This has been covered before, but the game also has asynchronous multiplayer features ,in the form of leaving aside Notes, fallen players leaving behind Specters of their playthroughs, and even player ghosts.
Lastly, PlayStation Plus is required if you want to play the Chalice Dungeons and asynchronous and synced online multiplayer features. Other game updates will, of course, continue to be free, including one update at launch to improve game performance and online optimization.
Bloodborne will be released exclusively on PlayStation 4 on March 24.
