Total War Marks 15 Years, Hints at Warhammer

March 10, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Here be dragons.

The Creative Assembly is celebrating the 15th anniversary of their Total War strategy series with a new video showing epic battles from each installment of the franchise from 2000's Shogun: Total War up to the recently released Total War: Attila.

Of particular note however is the roar of what seems to be a dragon at the end of the trailer. Earlier this year, a Total War art book leaked the existence of a Warhammer game and it seems likely that the roar is a nod to this game. It's also possible there's another fantasy themed Total War game in development, either based on an existing property (Game of Thrones please), or something new.

While many fans are concerned about the possible deviation away from history, Ensemble Studios successfully retooled Age of Empires for Age of Mythology so it can be done.

The game most fans seem to want however, is Medieval 3. Earlier today, news emerged that the Creative Assembly's console team is developing another AAA title, though whether this is a sequel to Alien: Isolation is currently unknown.

Where would you like to see Total War go next?
