Thanks to a new interview with no less than developers from Massive Entertainment for Tom Clancy’s The Division, we know more about the open world and gameplay. We have this information thanks to OpenWorld Games, whom you can subscribe to here.
There’s a dark zone, and there’s a hub (possibly the decontamination zones) to meet up, but the outside open world is where you and others will play together. The dark zone, on the side, is where you don’t know what to expect, and you may find yourself fighting other players. The key word is seamless.
Some weapons are contaminated coming out of the dark zones. You can use extraction to decontaminate them, so that they can be used and added to your inventory permanently.
There will be a variety of weapons available, including weapons conventional in shooters, as well as some unusual ones.
The devs talked about being in deep developing a dynamic world, and how Snowdrop could help enable this, but we don’t have a solid idea of how dynamic it will be yet.
Finally, the devs teased graphical shaders to help affect customization for your character.
Tom Clancy’s The Division is coming to Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this year. Shinobi602 claims we’ll get the official announce date, as well as some final gameplay footage, this coming E3.
