Unreal Tournament 4 is the latest title in the long-running series of arena shooters, and it's the first game in the franchise that's being developed with the help of modders from the very ground up.
Seems only natural that the studio behind the game, Epic Games, would create a system for modders to sell their work. The studio has told PCGamesN that they are creating a marketplace where all cosmetic items (for use in-game by players) can be sold.
The feature, which just went live, allows modders to sell cosmetic items they've created for the game.
“We will have a marketplace where people can make cosmetic items, and they can put them there and sell them. We have guys who have made some hats and other cosmetic items,” Stacey Conley, Epic’s community manager said.
“We’re going to launch the game as a beta at some point. We’re not going to call it a beta forever, but it will get to a point where the game will be done but people can continue to make mods. Hopefully it’s something that keeps going forever.”
