Nintendo sent this tweet, making it clear that they intend to bring the figure back in late April, just in time so that you will be able to use him for Code Name STEAM. Marth is renowned as the rarest and most sought after amiibo, with figures going for astronomical prices online.
In a recent investor’s meeting, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed that Marth was the amiibo with the highest sell-through rate in the US. Iwata also shared then that amiibo shipments were affected by the West Coast port shutdown, which has since ended. Lastly, Iwata hinted that amiibo that had to deal with shortages such as Marth would be getting manufactured again soon.
This Mario Party 10 TV spot below has been starting to air in the US (apparently spotted on Disney XD during Star Wars Rebels), and showcases the special use of amiibo in the game. There will be an exclusive amiibo Party mode, where each amiibo unlocks a unique game board themed to the character. You will also be able to play your amiibo character on the board, and if you do well, you can unlock a unique trait for that character on the board.
