ArtCraft Entertainment's MMO Crowfall has launched a Kickstarter campaign, with the developer seeking $800,000 in funding. With over 2,000 backers, the campaign has already generated over $240,000 and will continue for another 29 days.
The game's developers have previously worked on games including Ultima Online, The Sims Online, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
What makes the game different, is that it's "a seamless blend of an MMO with a large-scale strategy game". Crowfall uses Voxel Farm, tech used to help create in Minecraft, to give players the tools to destroy.
The game's characters are persistent, with players travelling between worlds to fight in an on-going War of the Gods, but Campaign Worlds aren't. Every World is a 'realm' or server which will oonly exist for one to three months, or until players complete a certain victory condition.
Throughout this time, a World will change with every campaign coming with four seasons. The Hunger, an "unstoppable legion of undead", marches across the land during the campaign, consuming all in its path.
Once Winter ends, the campaign is complete and a winner will be announced. At this point, the map will go offline permanently while the characters will continue to the next campaign.
