Dead or Alive 5 Last Round has launched with issues on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
On the PS4, the main issue is that the full digital version of the game was not published on PSN properly. What this means for the player is if they can’t find a physical copy of the game themselves, they would have to buy individual game components, including story mode and specific characters, piecemeal, and for far more than the base game. Furthermore, if you did buy the game this way, you wouldn’t be able to earn trophies. It also seems that new character Honoka is temporarily overpriced.
Even before this, fans have been unhappy with how Team Ninja has been managing game downloads. DLC would be uploaded incorrectly or go missing when they are scheduled to release, with corrections not coming until a month later. Some fans also complain with the unreasonable amount of costume DLC, which is well exemplified below.
A Tecmo Koei rep implies that the problems stem from PSN’s system and not them.
For the Xbox One, the base game is available to download, but it has a completely different set of problems. Tecmo Koei is working with a large number of reported game crashes. It also seems that the Mad Catz TE2 fightstick currently does not work with the console. They have yet to share details on either issue, but have pledged they are working on fixes now.
