Peter Molyneux has spoken with The Guardian in the aftermath of the news that the developer’s overhyped strategy game Godus’ initial features may never be realized, and revelations that the winner of the Curiosity contest has yet to receive a cut of Godus’ profits.
Molyneux revealed how the debacle with Godus has taken a toll on him and his family, stating that he received threats from irate individuals who bought his game.
“I love my games and I love sharing them with people. It’s this amazing incredible thing I get to do with my life, creating ideas and sharing them with people. The problem is, it just hasn’t worked,” said Molyneux. “The only answer is for me to retreat.”
“People get so frustrated with me, so much so that they’ve threatened me, they’ve threatened my family and it just cannot go on, it really can’t,” he said. “I think I’ll get this over and done with, I’ll answer some of the things backers are saying, but after that I feel the best thing I can do is just ….”
According to the interviewer, his words trailed off into silence after that sentence. It’s well worth a read.
Do you think this is the last we’ll hear of Molyneux?
